Twitter banned accounts: Twitter reportedly suspended about 48,624 accounts from India during the reporting period. Twitter in its 2021 Monthly New IT Compliance Report. And, Twitter said it had also taken action on 22 account suspension complaints.
The new year kicked off with yet another Twitter ban as Elon Musk banned around 45,589 accounts in India between October 26 and November 25. The decision was takes after it became knows that accounts from the country promote the sexual exploitation of children and the exposure of the body without consent.
The microblogging platform is going through a period of new ownership and has removed about 3,035 accounts from India for promoting terrorism on its platform.
At the time of writing, Twitter has suspended approximately 48,624 accounts from India during the reporting period. In its monthly report under the new IT regulations 2021, Twitter said that it received 755 complaints from users in India in the same period through its complaints mechanisms and took action on 121 of those URLs.
These include complaints received from individual users with accompanying court rulings.
